SLATE requests for 2010 convention

I am forwarding the following request from Clarissa West-White:
Hi all,
If anyone would like to present with SLATE in Orlando, please read below. Those of you who serve as liaisons to one of the six FCTE commissions are asked to poll your chairs/members for possible topics for the two sessions and workshops SLATE is given at conventions. If you could forward your comments to me by the 15th, I would greatly appreciate it.
Folks:
As you may know, SLATE is given two concurrent sessions and a workshop at each convention. This year we're having a workshop on teaching challenging texts, and two sessions, one on surviving book challenges, and one on service and community based learning.
What I'd like to do here, is open up the floor for suggestions of sessions and workshops for next year in Orlando. The theme is Teachers and Students Together: Living Literate Lives which is not a bad fit for some of the things we naturally do in SLATE anyway.
My goal is to have a list of potential presenters and topics to bring to the SLATE Steering Committee meeting at Philly where the committee can vote.
So, what I'd like for you is suggestions, ideas, ruminations, cash. OK forget the cash part, but put your thinking cap on and and me some ideas. I'll be happy to contact folks to gauge their interest if you'd like, or you can do that yourself and send me the names of people who are interested and what they might like to do.
I'll need all this by November 16 so I can get it together and in the agenda.
