COMMISSION GOALS FROM THE 2008 CONFERENCE MEETING IN ORLANDO
Hi,
I'm currently using Goggle docs to work on the four projects that we decided to pursue at the October Professional Development Conference. Those items were--
1) To develop the criteria for a Media Literacy Education Award for a Florida English language arts teacher. This would be similar in scope to the award given at the national level. This criteria would be presented to the FCTE Board as a proposal. If approved by the Board, the initial award would be given the 2010 Conference.
2) To develop another proposal that would expand (or parallel) the writing awards by recognizing multimodal texts created by students in English language arts.
3) Propose a Media Literacy Showcase session that would not only provide teaching demonstrations of media literacy education activities but that would also promote conversations of how those activities support traditional forms of education.
4) To develop a proposal for a book that is focused on learning, literacy, and media literacy education.
I'm currently sending a call for help and input to the list of Commission Members that I have. If you are NOT on that list, please send me a note. We would love to multiple voices and diverse perspectives from all grade levels and teaching assignments at the table as we move forward. pace@ufl.edu
